What is Rocklin Virtual Campus (RVC)?

What is Rocklin Virtual Campus (RVC)?

RVC offers the excellence in education you’ve come to expect from Rocklin Unified from the comfort of your home.  This educational alternative is tuition-free and part of the Rocklin Unified School District.  Enrollment is open to all students in grades TK-12.

Students participating in this option will be enrolled in online learning facilitated by RUSD’s highly-qualified, credentialed teachers and staff. The content of these courses are of high academic quality and are aligned with district standards and curricula.

Students participating in RVC will remain simultaneously enrolled to their residence school or school where they have a signed intra-/inter-district permit on file. This connection ensures that students will have access to communications and extra-curricular activities. See “What does simultaneous enrollment mean?” for more information.

What does simultaneous enrollment mean?

What does simultaneous enrollment mean?

Students participating in Rocklin Virtual Campus will remain simultaneously enrolled in their residence school or school where they have a signed intra-/inter-district permit on file.

Simultaneous enrollment ensures that students will have access to communications and after-school extra-curricular activities and gives students priority when re-enrolling in a traditional day program.  Examples of communications and extra-curricular activities include, but are not limited to, emails/newsletters from school principal, participation in book fairs, participation in after school activities (carnivals, dances, PTC events), and participation in athletics, as permitted by COVID-19. For additional information about athletics, see “Is my student able to participate in athletics and/or student activities?” below.

Simultaneous enrollment does not guarantee enrollment back at a student’s residence school or school where they have a signed intra-/inter-district permit on file.  RVC students will be given priority to enroll back at their residence school during the 2021-22 school year.
Are students able to transfer back and forth between Rocklin Virtual Campus and traditional school?

Are students able to transfer back and forth between Rocklin Virtual Campus and traditional school?

Students requesting transfer into RVC once school has started will be placed on a waiting list and enrolled once staff becomes available.  Students should transfer at natural breaks in the year (ie, quarter, trimester, semester or natural school breaks), to the extent feasible.

Once enrolled, students are encouraged to stay in Rocklin Virtual Campus for the school year.  Students are able to transfer from RVC to traditional school settings, as long as space is available, and may do so at select windows throughout the year (ie, quarter, trimester, semester).  Note:  Although students remain simultaneously enrolled, simultaneous enrollment does not guarantee enrollment back at a student’s residence school or school where they have a signed intra-/inter-district permit on file during the 2020-21 school year.  If students wish to transfer to a traditional school setting during the school year and space is not available at their residence school, an alternate school with space will be made available.

Enrollment at the beginning of the 2021-22 school year:  For the 2021-22 school year, students will be able to return in person to their residence school or school where they have a signed intra-/inter-district permit on file, pending final enrollment numbers. Students are not guaranteed placement in particular programs or classes.  Students will retain their original start date (for purposes of enrollment) and will have priority over students who have recently moved into a school’s attendance area.

RVC is not an option for students requiring short-term independent study at this time.
